Investing in the Future of Bayridge
Each September, there is an air of anticipation that envelopes Bayridge as each new resident moves in. This expectation is not only about the new classes students will take; it’s also an anticipation of good things to come in the lives of these young women. Bayridge is privileged to house the future doctors, lawyers, teachers and mothers who will impact the next generation. And that is a pretty exciting prospect.
For over 50 years Bayridge has housed and nurtured countless women during their academic journey. We’ve helped them to take their studies seriously, form lasting friendships, deepen their faith and aspire to greatness.
If we could only focus on the maturation of the residents we would be more than happy, but with this also comes the brick-and-mortar side of life. A residence of this magnitude needs care, upkeep and renovation.
The auction serves a valuable role in helping to defray some of the extraordinary costs incurred for necessary renovation, upgrades and maintenance to Bayridge. In recent years the proceeds generated by the auction enabled us to upgrade fire systems, restore old bathrooms and renovate residence floors.
Bayridge is now embarking on a three-to-five-year capital improvement plan called “Investing in the Future”. This project comprises a plan for updating and improving the common areas of the residence including study rooms, family room, offices and adding a practice room and an exercise room. The plan will improve energy efficiency, lighting and allow for better space utilization. We ask for your prayers and continued support as we embark on this journey of “Investing in the Future” of Bayridge that will surely allow the residence to better serve its women and assure that it remains a wonderful and attractive option for women studying in Boston.
